Double Drabble: Bad Reaction
Title: Bad Reaction
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Gwen, Ianto, OC.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 601: Insult at
tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Gwen puts her foot in it with an alien visitor.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Jack always told his team that aliens weren’t just humans in funny costumes. They didn’t necessarily think the same way humans did, or share the same customs, behaviours, or moral code. For that reason there was no point ascribing human motives to an alien; they had to be dealt with on their own terms.
Unfortunately, Jack had been gone almost three weeks and the team were only just managing to keep their heads above water. Today, they were dealing with the pilot of a spacecraft who’d been forced to land when the Rift sent her navigation computer haywire. It was testament to the pilot’s skill that the craft had been brought down in one piece.
Gwen had thought things were going well but as she talked with the alien via Tosh’s translation programme, promising that it would be free to leave once its ship was fixed, it suddenly grabbed the front of her top, and ripped it!
Staggering back, Gwen drew her gun but Ianto intervened.
“Put that away, Gwen.”
“It attacked me!”
“You insulted her.”
“What’re you talking about?”
“You bared your teeth.”
“I was smiling!”
“To Lateevans, that’s the gravest insult possible. You’re lucky she didn’t kill you.”
The End
