I had the advantage of never having seen any of the actors who plated the Doctor in New Who (aside from Peter Capaldi) in anything else, so it was easy for me to accept each new Doctor provided the actor did a good job, but like you I was tiring of Ten by the end of his run. Eleven was such a breath of fresh air, and so much fun right from the start. Maybe that's why he quickly became my favourite. Te was soured for me by the way he treated Jack, and because he developed an arrogance I didn't think the Doctor should have.
Out of Time was a good, if tragic episode, but Gwen annoyed me in her obliviousness of Owen's relationship with Diane. The again, Gwen annoyed me most of the time anyway, doing stupid things and blaming everyone else or relying on others to save her life.
