Yes, Gwen lacked redeeming qualities altogether.
Doctor Who doesn't tend to dwell on the psychological effects though, being primarily a kids' show.
I can write Gwen, but it's not easy to make her tolerable.
LOL! There was a Torchwood ficlet based on that, where Jack calls Ianto his squishy, hugs him and goes 'Squish squish*
Marilyn had good taste.
It was tragic, he went to the dark side =(
