Double Drabble: Slip Up
Title: Slip Up
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Gwen, Rhys, Owen.
Rating: PG-13
Written For: Challenge 564: Slip at
tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Gwen is learning that juggling boyfriend and lover isn’t easy.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Gwen loved Rhys. She did, honest; he was her rock, the safe harbour she returned to each night, or at least most nights, after another day of dealing with the many and varied weirdnesses of her job. Without his steadying presence, the way he took care of her and their flat, and all the little things he did that she no longer seemed to have time for, she thought she might go crazy.
He should be enough for her, she knew that, but she couldn’t talk to him the way she could talk to Owen, about all the strange and terrifying and wonderful things she saw at work. Not that she and Owen spent much time talking…
Rhys was a gentle lover, familiar, maybe even a tiny bit dull at times, while Owen was exciting and new; she’d done things with him she would never have suggested to Rhys. So why she’d almost called her boyfriend by her lover’s name she didn’t know; she’d caught the slip just in time, cutting herself off at “Oh!” Rhys had assumed it was a cry of pleasure, bless him.
She’d got away with it this time, but she’d have to be more careful.

Sometimes I try to write Gwen as a nicer person, but I don't find it easy. Ianto and Jack are easier to write.

I try not to write her too OOC, but getting a balance between her being bearable and still being Gwen is a balancing act, so quite often I just leave her out or have her in the background doing and saying as little as possible.
