Doctor Who Drabble: Not A Monster

Summary: Just because something looks like a monster doesn’t mean it is.

The creature slumped not far from the Doctor’s feet, leaking yellowish ichor from a deep gash in one leg. What had moments earlier seemed like a terrifying monster bent on destruction, and possibly intent on eating anyone it met, now just looked pitiful and close to helpless, despite its size.

“There now.” The Doctor sank to his knees. “Nobody wants to hurt you, but you don’t belong here. Let me help you.”

Martha stepped forward, suddenly bold. “Maybe I can help too, I can clean and stitch that wound.”

The Doctor nodded. “And then we’ll see about getting her home.”

Allergies and intolerances make food rather a minefield. People who don't suffer just don't understand.

Mum loved everything I made for her. My sister loved the tiger jumper so much I made her a second one, and I've made it three times for myself in different colours. Made lots of baby clothes for other people too.

I just don't have the patience for it. I know I should. One time someone thought that I was vegetarian because I was eating some home made spinach pastries. Don't meat eaters get vegan sometimes? Maybe they didn't mean it that way.*shrugs*

That's nice that people can appreciate your work. You could make a business out of it.:)

Everyone should eat vegetables at least some of the time. No one should ever have top explain why they choose to eat a particular thing.

I did at one point, although I didn't make much from it. I was knitting baby clothes for a shop, but then it closed and I got everything back that hadn't sold. No one wants hand knitted baby clothes these days. It's all babygrows now. =(

I should just wear a T-shirt or give out information on food allergies.:)

Well at least you had that opportunity. Maybe you could knit something else. Babies grow up pretty quickly.

My mum thinks I could make money from my baking. I haven't baked in a long while. When I do, I tend to give it out for free for people I associate with.

You'd have to make your on, probably. It would be useful though.

I like making baby clothes because they're small and pretty and quick to make. If I made larger clothes I'd have to charge more for the time it takes to make them and people wouldn't be willing to pay.

We have people over her who do that and sell their wares at local markets and summer fairs. I got some really delicious baked goods last year.

Yeah. Maybe get a pamphlet or two at the doctors office.*ponders*

There's always socks or handkerchiefs? How about scarfs? Too long? Maybe gloves?

I'm asking a lot of questions.:D

Homemade is always nice. So fresh and healthy.:)

Information is always handy to have.

Gloves and socks are fiddly in annoying ways, they're best knitted in the round, especially the fingers of gloves, which means working on four double ended needles. As for scarves, they're boringly straight, lol! I.m very fussy about what I knit.

Less additives and preservatives in homemade baked goods, which is good for me as many additives don't agree with me.

I like knowing about things too.:)

So you need something that is in between. I wouldn't call the Fourth Doctors scarf boring but I see what you mean. That sort of rhymes, did that by accident.

Well, that's just garter stitch in different colour, no shaping, no pattern, no different stitches, just on and on exactly the same for yard after yard... I like lace patterns and cables and stuff. I'm an experienced knitter though.

Food intolerances are unpleasant too, not life threatening but they can make you fee pretty awful.

Yep, mum taught me when I was little, but I really got going when I was 18. Nearly 40 years of knitting, I should know what I'm doing by now =D

I racked my brain for days trying to come up with something and ended up naming myself after my guinea pig, Frizzle the badly-knitted pig. He looked like one of my sister's attempts at knitting.

I never would have guessed it! I'm not sure what that means about your sisters knitting skills.:)

She was terrible, never ended up with the same number of stitches on consecutive rows. There's a reason she doesn't knit.

Yes, she's good at being bossy and annoying.

Her kids e both lovely, thankfully they don't seem to have inherited their mother's bossiness.

People are more prone to harboring traits from their fathers side. Like me, but not entirely which is how I look at it.:)

I don't know what if anything they get from their dad. My sister and her husband broke up when the kids were about 10 and 13. My sister is more like our dad, but I take after mum.

Well that couldn't have been easy, especially on the kids but things happen. My mum is like her dad, but looked like her mum. My mum still insists that I still got some looks from my grandfather, her dad. So you can't really pinpoint these things.:)
