Doctor Who Drabble: Not A Monster

Title: Not A Monster
Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Martha Jones.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 300: Ichor at [livejournal.com profile] dw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Just because something looks like a monster doesn’t mean it is.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.

The creature slumped not far from the Doctor’s feet, leaking yellowish ichor from a deep gash in one leg. What had moments earlier seemed like a terrifying monster bent on destruction, and possibly intent on eating anyone it met, now just looked pitiful and close to helpless, despite its size.

“There now.” The Doctor sank to his knees. “Nobody wants to hurt you, but you don’t belong here. Let me help you.”

Martha stepped forward, suddenly bold. “Maybe I can help too, I can clean and stitch that wound.”

The Doctor nodded. “And then we’ll see about getting her home.”

The End

True but the definition of what nurses do has evolved over time. In some cases nurses are more capable of doing certain tasks that a standard doctor couldn't do AKA dealing with needles. They form a different kind of relationship with patients compared to doctors.

Doctors also have to deal with paperwork while nurses have to have knowledge of medication for patients that sometimes doctors overlook. Overall, one is not better over the other, they are just different and both are needed so that patients get the right treatment.

I'm lucky that my mum use to be a nurse so she could rely this type of information to me. I think I mentioned it before, along with my late grandfather who travelled a lot because of it.

There's always two sides to every story. It depends on the particular doctor. Some may feel pressure to know everything, while others act overly confident that they might overlook something. Like they are going through the motions. Which can be unfortunate.

That's why it is recommended that people get more than one doctors opinion if they aren't satisfied. People can be misdiagnosed for years because a doctor mistook the patients symptoms for something else.

Yes, my family had to deal with a lot of specialist's and only one of them was competent enough to deal with my fathers mental health issues. It cost's a lot to see these specialist's. You want to get your moneys worth. That's all in the past now. All that is left is the experiences and the stack of paperwork we went through.:(

Well, that's lucky for you. Sometimes they give you back about 30% through Medicare over here, but it's still a lot.

Yep. Like the situation wasn't stressful enough. For those who complain about trivial things, they have no idea how lucky they are.

Sad but true. I really loathe the fact that this is the case.:(

Now I want to think of positive things. This discussion is a little depressing. Sorry.*grimace*

Yah for you. I wish I could knit. Ill just stick to my cooking skills.:)

It's a deal! :D

Mind you, I was an assistant chef so no fancy stuff like top chefs do. I like things simple. I was also a kitchen hand but I hate washing dishes. Although when it's a job where you get paid for it, you persevere. I hate washing dishes at home but don't like using a dishwasher. You have to clean that afterwards too anyways so that's my preference.

I sound like I'm reciting a weird speech.:)

*grins*

I have food allergies and it can be challenging trying to avoid certain ingredients. I don't always get symptoms.

Some people think I don't like eating and so I have to explain without too much detail about my diet.

It means alot when you can make a gift. I usually bake something. The next best thing is buying something meaningful.:)

I just don't have the patience for it. I know I should. One time someone thought that I was vegetarian because I was eating some home made spinach pastries. Don't meat eaters get vegan sometimes? Maybe they didn't mean it that way.*shrugs*

That's nice that people can appreciate your work. You could make a business out of it.:)

I should just wear a T-shirt or give out information on food allergies.:)

Well at least you had that opportunity. Maybe you could knit something else. Babies grow up pretty quickly.

My mum thinks I could make money from my baking. I haven't baked in a long while. When I do, I tend to give it out for free for people I associate with.

Yeah. Maybe get a pamphlet or two at the doctors office.*ponders*

There's always socks or handkerchiefs? How about scarfs? Too long? Maybe gloves?

I'm asking a lot of questions.:D

Homemade is always nice. So fresh and healthy.:)
