Doctor Who Drabble: Incongruous

Summary: PC Andy Davidson comes across something odd while on patrol.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.




The blue police box was an incongruous sight, something that had once been familiar but had long since fallen out of use.


Where this one had come from was anybody’s guess. Andy Davidson was sure it hadn’t been here earlier; he’d have noticed. Perhaps it was a prop for a TV show, or possibly a hoax, or a student prank.


The door opened and a dishevelled head poked out. “Hello there! What year is this?”


“Um, 2005.”


“Oh bother, I’m early.” The head vanished and with a grinding sound, the blue box faded out.


Andy shrugged. He’d seen stranger things.

Apparently, RTD said he based it on a real life friends experience so take it how you want to.

The story should have been that Bob was bisexual and it was all new to Rose.

I suppose so. Bob had a best friend and she was in love with him and he falls for Rose instead.

Complicated love triangles don't get much more complicated than that, considering Bob was supposed to be gay.

Okay, Rose was cautious about Bob at first since the creepy taxi guy but leaves her then boyfriend for Bob. Later on finding out his sexuality, chaos ensures, they break up over something stupid temporarily and later on her mothers boyfriend makes a pass at her. That's the gist of it.

Sorry, but you sound like your talking about an ex-boyfriend when you say: I'm through with RTD.:D

*giggles* I suppose I do. But he betrayed Torchwood fans, I won't allow him to do that again.

Doesn't sound like much really happens if it can be boiled down to that synopsis. I definitely haven't missed anything.

I left out some bits. Bobs mum is played by Penelope Wilton who you know best as Harriet Jones. Who defends her sons actions by saying that he is attracted to men but also one woman.

I'm not really sure people got RTD's vision.*doubting it myself*

Me too! Penelope acted with the same kind of enthusiasm as Harriet Smith so not missing out on much.

Also Jessica Stevenson, (Bobs friend) is in it too. You know her as Verity Newman on Doctor Who.

Seems RTD is in the habit of re-using actors - except for Gareth David Lloyd, and Burn Gorman, and Naoko Mori. he just killed their characters and forgot about them.

True, he's not worth getting bent out of shape over, but Ianto's cruel fate is!

Shooting bullets at the glass where the alien (456) was?

RTD and his questionable storytelling. I think he was more focused on making some point about lower-income society being seen as less significant or something.

It devalued the morale of the story for me.

It was just one more plot hole in a story riddles with them. Jack and Ianto knew e glass was bulletproof and wouldn't have fired at it in reality because of the danger from ricochets. They also went to confront aliens known to create viruses for their own purposes with no protection and no plan, even though they knew there was at least one hazmat suit in the building. It was so pointless! Entirely designed to get Ianto out of the picture =(

There was more holes than plot!

It would have been more logical to blow up the alien and Ianto got caught in the crossfire. Not that I'd like to think up of ways to kill off character's I like.

Rose:...Can’t we just launch a nuclear bomb at them?
Harriet Jones: You’re a very violent young woman.

The whole aliens getting high on human children was pretty sick and RTD couldn't think of a better way of resolving the threat?!!!

Yeah, most of the plot was either vile or didn't make sense. A sad end for Torchwood, since 99% of the time I refuse to accept Miracle Day as canon.

Having computer issues. Hope it's not going to break down in the middle of Contest Week!

I wish it had all been a bad dream and the end of Torchwood series three, no series two hadn't happen. I want the old team back!

Here's hoping you have better luck than me with computer issues. I'm trying to redo the learners test for driving online and it keeps cutting out.:(
